TREASURER WINS NATIONAL LEADERSHIP AWARD

On September 27, 2021, Maria Walls, Beaufort County’s elected Treasurer, was awarded the 2021 CashVest National Leadership award for excellence in managing public investments and cash liquidity. The award was presented by 3+1 Advisors CEO Joseph Rullison and National Association of Counties Financial Services Corporation Executive Chairman William Jasien.

“Given to one person nationally that demonstrates the highest of integrity and quality financial management of taxpayer money,” said Mr. Rullison. “Treasurer Walls is outstanding, not just in Beaufort County but nationally. She is followed for her best-practices and called on by Counties throughout the Country.”

Through her innovative and systematized approach to a complex issue, that of investing public monies, Treasurer Walls and her incredible team have earned Beaufort County millions of dollars in investment income. What used to be earned per year, they now earn per month.

Her success and knowledge has not just benefited Beaufort County but Counties throughout the Country. Walking other County leaders through her process, she has shared her system of cash flow management and mutually benefited from their insight.

“Maria is the adopter of great solutions and as a result, has yielded great results for Beaufort County. We can’t recognize her enough for her innovative leadership and thought leadership, helping to bring others along as they try to figure out the very difficult task of cash management,” added Mr. Jasien.
